Newick to Isfield loop

Newick - Barcombe - Isfield

Back from holiday and needing a walk so Ivan dug this one out of the map room. Billed as 11.5 miles it turned out to be 13 but possibly this was due to the diversion we had to use to find a pub for lunch after our intended stop decided to shut its doors this Monday.

Weather was a coolish Autumn day with highs of up to 17 deg and the possibility of a small shower. As it was, we only got the tiniest of showers and by mid afternoon the sunshine was quite pleasant.

Parking up on the outskirts of Newick we picked up the Sussex Ouse path (which we have done before) and headed south, branching off towards Barcombe after a couple of miles. Here we picked up a new path called the Meridian Way which led us around to the river Ouse path again supposedly at our lunch stop The Anchor Inn. But with the doors of the Anchor firmly closed we quickly plotted a course to Isfield and the "Laughing Fish" which fortunately was open and was serving lunch! By this time we had virtually completed the walk which was probably a good thing because the walkmeter lost its GPS signal and whilst it continued to monitor the  distance it wasn't able to give us the normal full stats and path detail.
